The core of the Recording Information Notification is an XML Schema that defines the data structures required to capture metadata from the studio environment.

As of October 2015, DDEX has developed a draft of this standard. DDEX is currently using this schema, together with accompanying samples (see the Annex), to gather input from the wider studio community, studio personnel as well as manufacturers of studio equipment and software, to see whether products based on this schema would be suitable for inclusion into the studio environment. Some of this input has already been collected.

DDEX plans to issue its first RIN standard in 2016 and invites interested parties to work with DDEX to make sure that the standard will be able to become the foundation for metadata capture and communication from the studio environment into the commercial music supply chain.

Any interested party is invited to contact DDEX.
