The core of the Recording Information Notification is an XML Schema that defines the data structures required to capture metadata from the studio environment.

As of October 2015, DDEX has published this standard. DDEX is currently using this schema, together with accompanying samples (see the Annex), to gather input from the wider studio community, studio personnel as well as manufacturers of studio equipment and software, to facilitate the development of products based on this schema. Some of this input has already been collected. Now that DDEX has issued the RIN standard, it invites interested parties to work with DDEX to make sure that the standard will be able to become the foundation for metadata capture and communication from the studio environment into the commercial music supply chain.

Any interested party is invited to contact DDEX.
